Fr. Christoforos Kouloulias, the youngest of three children, was born on September 8th, 1971, in Montreal to now Rev. Fr. Konstantine Kouloulias and Presvytera Asimina. As a young child, Father Christoforos attended the churches of St. George in Montreal and St. Nicholas in Laval, where he was immersed in the services of the church as an altar boy and as a reader. When his father, Konstantine, decided to become a priest, his family returned to their beloved Ikaria where Father Christoforos lived from the age of 10. From an early age, Father Christoforos enjoyed learning about the teachings of the Church and decided to pursue an education in Theology. He enrolled himself in the Ecclesiastical High School of Tinos, and after four years of study in Tinos and successfully passing the National University Entry Exam or Panhellinies, Father Christoforos entered the University of Athens to receive an Honours Bachelor of Theology. Before completing his studies, Father also assumed his civic responsibility and served in the Greek Army as a Second Lieutenant.
In November 2003, Father Christoforos returned to Canada and there met his loving wife, Kyriaki, the following January. They were married in 2005 and have since then had two wonderful blessings: Asimina Maria (2007) and Sotiri Ioanni (2009).
Father Christoforos entered the Holy Deaconate on October 8th, 2005 at Evangelismos Tis Theotokou in Oshawa and was ordained a priest on October 22nd 2005 in St. Catharines, at St. Katharine Greek Orthodox Church where he served from October 2005 to April 2010. He has since returned to Oshawa where he now serves as the parish priest. He loves Byzantine Music and in his free time he enjoys Greek Cinema and travelling.
