LADIES PHILOPTOCHOS SOCIETY OF EVANGELISMOS TIS THEOTOKOU

Picture
Philoptochos in Greek literally means friend of the poor.  The Philoptochos society is a woman's organization that seeks to help those in need of spiritual fellowship and material assistance. It further aims to promote participation in Greek Orthodox activities in cooperation with the Community priest and Community Council.  Philoptochos chapters are a part of every Greek Orthodox parish.  There are currently 450 Philoptochos chapters throughout North America with 35,000 members.

St. Philothei of Athens - Patron Saint of Philoptchos

Picture
The famed city of Athens doth honour Philothei,
the righteous Martyr, whose relics it now revereth with joy; for while living in sobriety and holiness, she hath exchanged all earthly things for the everlasting life through great contests as a Martyr; and she entreateth the Saviour to grant His mercy unto all of us.
